While I have been contemplating how many more days of BC I have left to take and the state of my left ovary (hahaha), some pretty awesome awards have been circulating in blog-land. And I have been lucky enough to get a couple from some of my favorite bloggers. First up, the Beautiful Blogger award! The rules follow….

1. Thank and link to the FABULOUS bloggie who nominated you. My hugest thanks to Bunny, Basic Girl, Missy, Low Fat Lady (LFL actually nominated me for the Blogger BFF award, but it’s very similar to this one and might take me another week to post!), Tio and Finch. You guys are awesome writers and wonderful women and I love visiting your blogs to find out what’s up in your worlds each day. In short: You rock.
2. Place the award in your blog. (Finally!)
3. Try to stop thinking about your cyst and a March cycle for a little while and instead come up with seven random & interesting things about yourself.
4. Nominate seven amazing bloggies and link to them. I have been such a slacker on this front that I will refrain from (re-)bestowing this awesome award upon all of you lovely ladies. If anyone out there has not received this award, put it up on your blog now, from me to you!

1. French fries and brussels sprouts: I’m equally obsessed. That kind of sums me up, in a way. I love splurging, but I’m generally pretty healthy.

2. Hubs and I met in Latin class our freshman year of college. I think it’s kind of awesome we’ve known each other since we were 18 years old.

3. I played soccer, basketball and tennis in high school and college. I have slowly fizzled out on keeping them all up as an “adult.” This is a very boring thing about me, but I wanted to share it in case you thought I came out of the womb running marathons. I did not…running was always a necessary evil of playing sports. Then I got addicted somewhere around age 22, when I suddenly had no organized sports activities to let off steam.

4. I have an older brother, younger sister and younger brother. Hubs has a little brother and little sister and a bunch of cousins. I love being from a big family!

5. I’ve always wanted to live in Portland, Oregon. Probably not ever in the cards for us, but I love that city. (My grandparents retired to Oregon so I grew up visiting them there.) My secret dream is that I work for Nike and wear sneakers to work every day and drink lots and lots of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. After putting my three children to bed, natch. 🙂

6. I am kind of of obsessed with birds. Like, cute and happy birds. I have a lamp with birds carved onto it (sounds creepy, is very cute, check it out). I commissioned a friend of a friend to do two bird paintings for our kitchen (actually they are kind of creepy). Hubs doesn’t get it, but he loves me anyway.

7. I’m currently stocking pomegranate juice (to improve lining!) and grapefruit juice (to improve CM!) in my cupboard. I’ll probably invest in some pineapple juice down the road too—cuz I heard it helps with implantation. What, did you think I could go a whole seven things without talking about getting pregnant?! Not a chance.

Next up! Mama Courtney at The Road Worth Traveling nominated me for the HAPPY 101 Award. Thank you so much, Bestie! The rules are: List 10 things that make you happy!

1. Waking up before the alarm goes off and realizing I still have a couple hours left to sleep. Ahhh.

2. Making hubs “pay the toll” (give me a smooch) when he walks down the hall past my study. Also known as “violent affection” in our household (when you are overwhelmed by the extreme cuteness of the other person and become physically incapable of not folding them up into a bear hug that instant).

3. The clear-headed, tired, happy feeling I get after I go running.

4. Clean, crisp sheets. I would change them every day if I could.

5. I love shower and bath products. My all-time fave body scrub is Brown Sugar Body Polish by Fresh. It’s pricey, so I tend to save it for big days at work or before a special night out. I also love Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser. You use it and feel like your world is right again, like you just got a spa treatment—it’s that good.

6. Ugg boots. I know they are hideous, but I love traipsing around the apartment in them and some “lounge pants after a long day at work. Also known as my “domestic outfit.”

7. Cooking. (And eating.) I think you all probably gathered that from the amount I talk about it! Last night hubs and I made pasta from scratch and homemade bolognese sauce. It was LEGIT!

8. Getting a handwritten letter in the mail. Isn’t it just the best? My Mom and I write each other letters.

9. LOST, my very, very favorite TV show. ‘Nuff said! (It’s on tonight!)

10. A day off work. We got President’s Day off yesterday and I loved every second of it.

  1. Waking up and realizing you have a few hours left to sleep is seriously *the* best. I sighed happily when I read that 🙂

  2. 1. Brussels sprouts are like chocolate to me. Especially the way my MIL makes them. Yummm.
    2. I’m in love with birds, too. If, no WHEN, we have a little girl, her name will be Wren Michelle. (Michelle after my sis.) Since we chose that name, I have proceeded to choose wall hangings, decor, cute clothes, etc. that are bird themed. Love it.

  3. 1. I have never had a brussel sprout in my life. Not sure why, just haven’t.

    3. I played b-ball too, years ago, and was pretty good at it, too. But I HATE running. I haven’t picked up a b-ball in 10 years.

    7. Never heard about the grapefruit thing. My hubby has been drinking a lot of it lately though. Do you think I should tell him about the positive side effects? LOL!

  4. Awww, my husband and I bonded over a love of Latin, so that’s super sweet. I love it when people have been together forever. It’s so romantic!

  5. What a seriously fun list, Egg! I have a secret love affair with Portland as well, but it’s totally unfounded. I’ve never even been there. And I’m a huge supporter of sending real mail. I still hand-write thank you notes, collect stationery, and loooove buying stamps. Congrats on your awards! 🙂

  6. I like Lost too. I just caught up this summer by watching seasons 1-5 in succession for a couple of months. I’m excited about tonights episode. I have a pair of fake uggs and I really like them, but they bug the back of my heels because they rub. Do you ever get that problem? I make my husband pay tolls to get by as well 🙂

  7. Tio

I actually have a friend who lives in Portland and works for Nike. She doesn’t have kids but I’m pretty sure she drinks wine! Husby and I met her in Thailand while we were honeymooning.

I’m obsessed with birds too! They just seem so free-spirited. I have bird drinking glasses, candles and earrings etc etc, but no lamp unfortunately. Anthropologie has the coolest stuff. My dream (one of them!) is to have a fabulous outdoor entertaining area with old-fashioned bird cages as candle holders and chandeliers. That sounds tacky, but in my head it TOTALLY works.

  8. JC

I know what you mean about running. It was so evil in organized sports and I got so burned out from playing everything in h/s then vball in college that I never thought I’d ever run again. But when someone isn’t “forcing” you to run, it isn’t that bad anymore.

  9. We do the “toll” thing too – well, I do it anyway. I love demanding affection.

  10. Aw, so fun to learn this stuff about you! We need to play tennis sometime!! I am the same as you in terms of running (although I am no where NEAR as dedicated as you) I only started running in my early 20s.

I am obsessed with my Uggs, although I only wear them to and from Starbucks and around the house.

My grandparents lived in Oregon as well and growing up we spent summers there. I love it! So beautiful! Plus, the wine region is amazing!

    Congrats on all your awards!!

  11. I’ve never had brussels sprouts. Probably because my mom HATED them so she never made them when we were growing up. I’ll have to try them someday. 🙂

And I also love the feeling I get from running. Gives me a clear head!

I loved learning all of these things about you!!!

  12. Hi There–Just found your blog as I am going the the TTC process again (got pregnant through IVF the first time and now have a 15 mo old son) and am a marathon runner. It’s a hard process….letting go of all your expectations and submitting to the unknown. Just tell yourself that you will find a way to love, that it will work for you, and that someday in the future you will barely be able to remember these struggles because you will be so happily consumed with your lovely family. Email me if you want access to my blog to follow me in my journey, too!

  13. Such a fun post, love learning about these random little tidbits of your life!! So I played volleyball, basketball, and soccer in highschool too…but slowly retreated towards dance over the years! Luv my uggs, and I wear them way too often…some days I don’t even take them off at work (we’re casual so it’s not as bad as it sounds). Oh, and V-8 makes a pomengranite (sp) blueberry juice that is SO good, I’ve been drinking 1 a day and it has a serving of fruits and one of veggies…can’t beat that! And Lost, don’t even get me started!!! My brother is obsessed too and we go on the blogs (i’m a huge nerd I know), and write discussion emails every week.

  14. LTB

Love the mailbox type of letters…those are usually just between me and my grandma, but maybe now that you have reminded me how wonderful they are, I will start to send some out to other family and friends!
Counting down the BCP days with you! I have 16 days left….(a lot).
How many are you left with?

  15. Ok, so I don’t know you but I *love* you! You are so much fun! I am an awful follower and don’t leave many comments but I sure do love reading your blog! I’ve promised myself I’m going to get better at it. You totally deserved both awards!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment today, I’m so over this cyst and I’m only 5 days into this benched cycle. Damn it. This past cycle was my 3rd on Clomid and my periods were normal – 5 days long, med-heavy flow. That’s why I’m so confused about AF this cycle. I have my HSG on Monday and I plan to ask them about it then. How big was your cyst when they discovered it? And this is your 2nd month in a row benched? So how big is it now?? I’m not doing BCP this cycle, guess the RE is just hoping it goes away on its own.

    Good luck this cycle!!!
